Default 07 si or 00 si

I would like your opinions on this. I'm looking at a 07 si sedan with 44400 miles for 13500 out the door and a 2000 si with 42500 miles and they are asking 7900. Both in excellent condition. Which in you opinion is the better buy. The 07 is galaxy grey metallic and the 00 is Milano red.

get the newer car. The 00 si is a nice car, but just to easy to steal, and people just want all the parts off the car.

The 07 si has newer technology such as aux input, sub, better engine, nicer interior, functional cup holder compared to 00 si, has a six speed and lsd.

I have owned both, 8th gen civic is better hands down

not to mention the red car is a cop magnet.

If you do decide on the 07 make dam sure the transmission problem with 3rd gear, was repaired before you buy it.

After you buy it it's too late, the parts and labor to repair my 06 was 1200 2years ago.

I would rather have a nice older car, than a newer car like everyone else has.

I wish I could have got the 00 Si but it was sold yesterday. I didn't move fast enough. Good thing I'm not in the need of a car just wanting a Honda over my Jeep. The 07 is probably what I'm going with. It has 44k miles and when I drove it had no problem getting into any gear. I'm more worried about the rear bearing issue. I gotta look up the vins that were recalled to see if this one is in that range. I thought the 3rd gear issue was a recall and Honda was fixing that for free. Also anyone know anything about the window visor issue. the ones on this car cracked when i was testing driving and put the visor done. They said they are going to fix it but is it a common issue.

That wouldn't even be a question for me; the 07 Si is a much better car.

What do you mean about a rear bearing issue? The 3rd gear issue is only supposed to be covered if the car still has the warranty, but you might be able to find a nice dealership to do it regardless. Just because the car VIN falls within the TSB range doesn't mean that it'll have any problems, however. The window visor is a somewhat common issue, but again, it doesn't affect all cars.

I just bought a 2006 Honda Civic Si. It's the best car I have ever owned or driven, I really could not recommend buying anything else.

I would be more worried about the 3rd dude!! Rear bearing parts+labor is MUCH cheaper then a third gear fix. Not sure about 3rd gear being covered no cost(can check at work tomorrow if I remember), but the visors should be covered for sure...and those will break to at some point lmao!

If u don't want to fear thieves get the 07
Both are nice cars but with people now a days it's hard to keep a older Honda out in the wild with out some one trying to steal it

If you can keep it safe get the 00. Half the price, throttle cable. Less issues. Not too many around compared to the 06+ SI.

I had an 07 FG TW and now I own a 2007 FA5. They're both def nice, however everyone is right in what they say. That EM1 is great however it's one of the most stolen hondas...Good luck, tough choice!

The 3rd gear issue is like any other problem; it's covered under the regular warranty.

There's a reason why the '00 Si is cheaper. The '06+ Si is a much better car in every single way, except for the throttle lag at high RPM. As for less issues, I only had 1 issue with my '08 in 3 years of ownership, and that issue cost less than $100 to fix.

An 00 si is old news. I have one in my shop and I haven't driven it in 3 or 4 years. Get something newer for sure

I've driven many '99-'00 Si's and own an '07 Si. As a daily driver an all around fun car, the '07 wins hands down. The steering is mercilessly slow on the older civic. Needs a B18 or better to really feel strong.

As a track car, you need to take care of the throttle lag. I was horribly annoyed by the fact that, while autocrossing, you have to anticipate when you need the throttle and get on it early so it opens up when you really need it. Other than that, the steering is fantastic and light...perfect for autocrossing.

It's up to you. It sounds like the older EM's are still stolen fairly regularly. That would make me nervous about that.

Just get an old 3rd gen CRX and do a K swap. Nothing like a 1600 lb car with 200 hp!

07 SI, u will love it and still gives you 30MPG highway driving.
2000 si was good back in the days, it's just too dated now.
