Default Shift boot ring

Hey guys

I would like to know how I can take off the silver surrounding that goes under the factory shift ****, because it looks very weird with a ring under my new ball shaped shift ****...

Also, how do you guys make the shift boot stand up? Currently i have electrical tape wrapped around the shaft but was wondering if there's a less ghetto way to do that.

You know I'm a moron and couldn't figure this out either.

I just put the factory back on until I could figure it out. Lol.

remove your whole center console, turn it upside down, and the silver thing is attached by a ziptie, use a knife or scissor to cut it off.
