Problem with V-tec controller...
I have a 2004 Civic EX and i installed a Buddy Club V-tec controller on in the other day. It worked great for about 2 pulls and then the check engine light came on, and it felt like i had a rev limiter on the car at 4,000rpm. ( I figurd the car was just going into fail safe mode...) i called buddy club and they told me i have to cut the VTM wire to my ecu and ground it to solve this problem. I did just than and still the same problem... anyone run into this problem, and fix it?
YES!.. i could not belive it... all over a tiny $55.oo box that only took like 30min to wire in. I felt a big difference but i just cant get it to work without turning on the light...
Remember, when you change the VTEC point on a VTEC motor, you need to also introduce more fuel and spark to that cylinder to keep detonation down to a minimum.
Changing the VTEC point on a motor does nothing really, especially on our crummy D17a2's.
If youre going to be playing with the tune on a D17a2, make sure you have the parts to back it up with introduction of more air via the VTEC point.
Understandable?

Sorry for the incorrect spelling the truth of the matter it that this is my sisters car im a DSM driver, this is her first car and im working on it for her. I put an intake and a VTEC controller in the car, and there was a difference. Im just trying to get the car to run with no problems thats all. Im not looking for a 14sec civic just somthing that my 17yr old little sister can show off a little when some loser guy gets in her car and see's a little work done to it. So im guessing that you dont know how to fix the problem with the check engine light...

On the CEL, yeah. Go rent an OBD2 scanner, pull the code, and look the code up to find out whats wrong.
the VTEC controller, theres no need for one aon a D17A2 with just an intake.

^, thats why you dont need a VAFC2.
