JDM projector lights not working?!
Hey, so i bought these aftermarket headlights and tailights that are "plug and play" for my 2005 civic coupe. the headlights have been pretty interesting to install. ive tried installing them twice now, the first time we realized that the halo has to be wired into the daytime running lights because they did not come with a connection for that. So the second time around we wired the halos into the DRL's and turned on the lights, everything worked BUT the DRL's. After putting the stock headlights back in and turning the engine on , the DRL's worked!? my question is..do daytime running lights only work with the engine running? or are these lights not going to work in my car? Help plz?!!
are the halos CCFLs or just a single bulb/led with a tube around it? Only reason I ask is the ones with a single bulb arent usually visible in the daytime. Best bet is to just wire them into the parking lights. The bulbs are usually pretty sub par quality too, so might as well enjoy them when they can be seen
honestly, im not too technical so i have no idea..i just know it came with 4 wires but my car only had 3 plugs. so we wired the halo wire into the daytime running lights. i am pretty sure everything was hooked up correctly the second time around we just didnt think to turn the car on b/c we thought the daytime running lights would work just with the lights on, engine off. i just dont want to go through putting them in again if the DRL's just arent going to work.
Not to sound condescending, but if you dont know if theyr ccfl, chances are they probably arent. Not too many aftermarket brands use them, so if you didnt look for them specifically, chances are they are just the bulb type.
Id suggest just wiring them into the parking lights so they are only on when you want them on, and not all the time, so they last a little longer. Im assuming there is a red and a black wire coming off each halo? butt splice the red to red and black to black and make a common wire come out the other end of the butt splice and solder or butt splice them into the parking light wire. since it sounds like you have the hang of getting the bumper cover off and headlights out, it shouldnt be more than a 30ish minute job
