engine check?
I have an automatic 2002 civic ex and the engine check light came on. I got the code read at an auto shop and it said "high vehicle speed observed in park" what the hell does that mean and how do I fix it?
never heard of that problem, I'm curious what the code is too.
either way, vehicle could have been a one time thing. so reset the ecu.
under the hood, go to fuse #6 pull it out for 10-20 seconds and the ecu will reset. see if that gets rid of the ight first
then tell us if it's still on and same code or not.

nope...completely wrong buddy. the codes i have are P1706 (High vehicle speed observed in park) and P0113 (the PCM has determined that air input from the intake air temperature sensor is higher than expected for the current engine operating conditions). Can someone help?
ok the 1706 is Open in Transmission Range Switch Circuit
the 0113 is your IAT
I've had that problem too.
first cheack the wires from the PCM to the IAT and make sure none are broken or open to make a short. shouldn't be open but rather broken. that's what mine was, if it's not that and all the connections are good then tell me theres another thing you can do.
the 1706 it is probably the switch, it might need replaced or there might be a short.
do this, reset the ecu. using fuse #6
see if the light is gone.
if it is still there start car drive to about 40 then stop and turn off car and then do it again.
if light is still on then reset ecu again with fuse 6 and see if the light goes away.
if it doesn't go away then prolly have to go to the dealer and it will be very expensive sense they will test the wires in A LOT of places.
