Default Check Engine Code Help

So I just came up on an 02 Civic EX. Solid running car but I got the Check Engine Light on for 2 things.

P1298 and P0420

I know one of them is a cat code but I don't know which cat it is. The other code is electronic load detector. The ELD scares me a little. I've never heard of it before but it's electrical and I know electrical problems can be a pain.

Can anyone point me in the right direction and let me know what I need to replace to clear my codes and get this thing running up to par? thanks

I have a '99 Integra Ls with stock B18B1 engine & 5 Spd manual.I have same problem with cel on & autozone's scan tool shows P 0420 " Catalyst below efficiency threshold". Autozone guy told me a O2 sensor might be the problem but couldn't tell me which of the O2 sensors are bad.So I'm still lost as to what to do .I've seen people here talk about error code of 61 ( primary -front sensor) or 67 ( catalyst ) which are more specific as to problem. Are they using a different diagnostic tool than a Autozone scan tool.

So what is error code P0420 ?

And what is the solution ?

Thanks in advance for anyone that can help.Need to go thru emissions this month.

I currently work at a garage as the sales manager. I'm a little handy mechanical wise and know some good stuff. I just havent had a change to bring my car into the garage yet. I was told if you have a temperature gun and check the temp before and after sensor you can go by that to tell which one is wrong. Try that

In reply to allvtecyo use of a temperature gun to test temp " before & after sensor"--Did you mean to test temp right before ( ahead of - by a few inches ?)where sensor is located & just past ( toward rear of car )where sensor by a few inches is located on muffler pipe ?

What am I suppose to tell from a reading ? If temps readings are different / same ?

What am I to learn from this ?

sorry man I got confused in my own writing, with your catalyst below threshold code, the temperature gun is for reading to differentiate between the cat being bad and o2 sensor being bad. if u shoot the temp right before the cat and right after the cat and they are different, that tells you it's the cat and not the o2. as for which o2 sensor it is, I googled it and I was told the one right after downpipe

the efficiency code is either cat or 02

as for telling which o2, there are many different ways to test the sensor
