Automatic Headlights?
any idea if there is a way to make our civics have automatic headlights? my last truck had this on it and i really like the idea of having it automatically switching on the headlights when it got dark enough outside. call me lazy, but it was just a nice safety feature to have. thanks in advance y'all.
It's called daytime running lights. As far as I know, no 7th generation Civic came equipped with it, and the only way to do it is to buy an aftermarket kit.
Or you could save the money and TURN THEM ON YOURSELF WHEN IT GETS DARK! Seriously, Are you that lazy? If your eyes aren't open enough to see if it's getting dark, then what the hell are you doing driving?

I suppose you could fabricate a custom wire harness for the lighting mechanism to a light meter, and when it reaches a certain point, have it connect the circuit to turn the lights on. It'd be difficult, but possible.
eh, its not so much of a laziness issue as a safety one. ive only had the civic about 3 weeks and im still very used to not having to turn on my headlights manually, because my truck had the automatic headlights as a standard feature. considering that i live in a city where everything and all roads are lit up like the Vegas Strip, its easy to forget that i dont have them on a lot of the time.

No, it's not called daytime running lights. He is talking about a sensor that turns the headlights on when it gets dark enough outside. Lexus, Mercedes, C6 Corvettes, etc all have this. Watch a new Lexus go under a dark bridge and it's headlights come on.

I have a 2005 and I have Daytime running lights. You know why? Because I live in a place called Canada, where every car newer than 1990 has these.

when i was shopping around for a civic after my truck was totalled, i really had considered buying from canada because they had the Acura EL's which look hot IMO. looking back on it now, im guessing that i should have.
