What the hell is this?

I've always wanted to know what this thing is. The little red metal thing coming out the bottom of the bumper. I've seen it before but I don't understand it's purpose. Call me a noob, but everyone need to learn stuff sometime. thanks.

NO IT WAS A JOKE!

yeh sorry i didn't know that. i remember someone told me it was a tow hook once, but i thought tow hook like put a boat on it and tow it to the camp site with the civic. haha. yeh well thats stupid for people to put it on their street cars.

i have to disagree from personal experience......i don't have one yet but i will get soon.

on 2 occasions something happened to my car where it needed to be towed....since my car is low when i was getting pulled up onto the flatbed the chains connected under my car started to push my bumper up....was real close to cracking it. i also plan to put my lips on after the winter....it would be a wrap for them in this situation...tow hooks would be key

I too dont have tow hooks now, but i soon will. I have seen too many friends try and figure a way to tow a car home because a tow truck would crack a lip or bumper.
