I've decided to get a Canon A95 instead of a real expensive camera. I highly recommend it, you can get the camera, rechargable batteries, a big memory card, and a tripod for about $500 shipped

A good review can be found here:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canona95/

Pictures look just as good or better than a G3, and has a very "pocket G5" feel to it.

thanks for all the replies. Sorry, but the g5 and g6 are a little too over priced for me. I have looked in the sunday adds and have found these two, that seem to suit my needs finansaly. Please tell me what you think abou these two, and their features.

Sony DSC-P41 - here 4.1megapixel's

Canon a70 - here 3.2megapixle's

I really need help figureing out witch of the 2 have the better and more 'useable' features. I would like to do 'sequences' with the camera and I see that the a70 has 2.2 frames/second and I am wondering if that is any good for shooting some small sequences.
Please help

honestly...

save up some more money and buy yourself a decent camera...

sony P41 - Digital zoom only the lens doesnt actually move when you zoom in...if you zoom in you will severe clarity in your picture - AA batteries really really suck they where out way to fast! - plastic body

canon A70 - thumbs up to a real optical zoom over the sony - it only 3 megapixels - once again AA batteries really suck - plastic body

both of those cameras are just about the lowest end digital cameras you can buy...

if you can save up more money your better off going with a...

SONY P100 - 5 megapixels - carls zeiss lens - lithium battery (same as a cell phone) 3x optical zoom - metal body $399

Canon S410 - 4 megapixels - high quality canon lens - lithium battery - 3x optical zoom - metal body - $349-399

if thats is to expensive go with at least a...

SONY P73 or P93 - 4 megapixel(P73) 5 megapixel(P93) - 3x optical zooms - AA batteries plastic

Canon A85 or A95 - 4 megapixel(A85) 5 megapixel(A95) - 3x optical zoom - AA batteries plastic

i work at best buy and have been selling digital cameras for 2 years all of this information that i just posted to you is straight from the back of my head and you cant go wrong with what ive told you....one other option is to open a best buy credit car if you have any kind of credit where you get no interest for at least 6 months and your monthly payments are cheap as hell!

goodluck!

i have the a70 and i love it the only thing you will need to get in order to take some decent pic's with it is a nice stiff tri-pod. like someone else stated the plastic housing sucks, compared to my s200 housing made of some beefer material. The other thing i like about the a70 is you can buy extra lenses to get diffrent affects or put some light filters if you choose.........one more bad thing about the a70 is the 4 AA it uses... i got a bunch of batterys at costco .....over all i give it a 8 out of 10... the price i think i payed 250 or 270 at walmart last year for chrismas

For the price of a G6 you can get a nice Digital Rebel from Ebay. Of course the dough will be later spent on lenses.

so it seems as if the a70 is a all around fairly good camera for my begining photosessions. The only thing that seems to be against it is the 1) AA batties, wich dont matter since I have rechargable. 2) plastic housing. What does this mean? are some cameras made out of diffrent types of metals? And also, i do have a tripod so there is no problem there. What do you guys think of the link I posted above, the one to ebay?

some ebay sellers are sketchy since they sell 'gray market' versions of the cameras which arent the us versions with warranties. the vendor in your link seems legit, but if you decide to not go with ebay, try beachcamera.com. fast shipping and very reliable.
http://www.beachcamera.com/sho...PSA70
only a few dollars cheaper than what the ebay vendor is asking..

Practically the cheapest place on the net to get cameras (some deals can be found better else where):

http://www.buydig.com/shop/pro...PSA70

Find all the ones that meet your price range, then visit here to look at photos taken with them:

http://www.pbase.com/cameras/

You'll be able to make the decision on your own with a little time invested in research

I'd recommend buying online. For example, at BuyDig you could get an A70, and a 128MB High Speed Card (will work in almost every new camera) for $241 shipped. A 64MB card isn't very large if you want to save alot of high quality images. For $255 you could get a 256MB card. Depends on if you want to buy online or not I guess.
