Default !!!PrOBLEM,PLEASE HELP!!!

Ok so I have a ef hatch with a b16 ...last night I had to change my alternator because it stopped working...after I put a new one in I tryed to start my car ...the battery was almost dead from the bad alternator I had on before but with the new alternator on it started it up after a few trys ....I let it run for a few minutes and then turned it off to see if it would start up right away, when I went to start it the seconed time it wouldn't start so I kept trying then I heard what sounded like air coming from my engine I turned my key off and it kept going I looked in my engine bay and there was fuel fumes coming out of my throttle body..I took the negitve battery cable off and it stopped but then when I would put the cable back on the fumes would start pushing out again...........DID I FLOOD IT??? WHAT DOES FUEL FUMES FLOWING OUT OF UR THROTTLE BODY MEAN? Can anyone please help thanks

Naw I already checked that ....any other guesses? I'm stumped I have no idea why fuel would be coming out of the throttle body every time I put on the negitive battery cable

Yea I was thinking that the spark plugs could have gotten fouled out because of the fuel and there was so much fuel it started coming out of the throttle body...I took the spark plugs out last night and cleaned them up I haven't tryed to put the cable on the battery again yet to see if its still pushing out fuel,,I think I'm going to buy some new spark plugs today and then put them in and put the cable on and see what happens,,any one else got any ideas...I appreciate all of the help

Sounds like its flooded.

1. pull all the spark plugs
2. disconnect your distributor(this will prevent your injectors from adding even more fuel)
3. hook up some jumper cables(since it sounds like your battery is about dead.
4. crank the motor over for 10-15 seconds. Without spark plugs in, the engine will sometimes shoot any excess fuel out of the spark plug holes, so dont stick your face close to them. lol
5. let the cylinders air out for another 20-30 minutes (if you have an air compressor
6. put spark plugs back in
7. plug your distributor back in
8. start the car
