Official Ebay Coilover Thread
i have a set of tein s-tech springs on my EM1. theyve been on for a pretty long time with stock shocks. the rides gotten kinda shitty. i have some toms motorsports coilovers in my garage just sittin around. the stech drop is cool, but slamming my **** down would be fun for a while. should i put my coilovers on or stick with the tein s-techs. either way my shocks are gonna be **** til i have some more money.
For a $100 bucks from Tom Motorsports

It's a sad day when it somehow becomes cool to show off POS cheap@$$, likely unsafe suspension setups.
Would they work as a daily driver? I would venture a guess that these cheap crap setups would probably fail quicker on all the busted public roads than they would on a smooth race track.
FWIW I never have and never will touch that cheap eGay crap suspension. When I first bought my car, I wanted to lower it but I didn't want to cheap out, either. I saved up 8 months before being able to buy Koni shocks, which have taken pretty much anything I've thrown at it. I've had various combinations of lowering springs, GC coilovers, and stock GS-R and ITR springs on it. 150K miles on the shocks and they're still going strong.
My car rides somewhat harsh as it is now with stock GS-R/ITR springs lowered on the Koni shocks. I can't imagine what the eGay crap would be like.
*edit* n/m I do know what it's like. One of my buddies put Neuspeed race springs on Tokico HP (blue) shocks. Another friend put knock-off coilover sleeves on stock shocks. Both of them were awful, worst riding cars I've ever been in.

I've ridden (and owned) cars with "proper" suspensions, and ones with not. Sometimes the ebay coilovers absolutely suck, other times, they work out just fine. I'm sure plenty of others can attest to this. Some break, but that doesn't mean all of these coilovers are unsafe.
I've had my set up since thanksgiving. I have no complaints. Up intill april I didn't use my car much now I have a 4 mile commute to work and they're I like them. I don't see why they wouldn't be safe.
I'm on tokico blues back/old agxs in the front. I would look for a set of used performance struts for them. I found a set of barely used tokico Hps for $60 shipped, and the won't last that long slammed, but they're still better than blown struts. GR2s are pretty much stock, so I'd go with OEM honda b/f them, since they can be had for cheaper in barely used condition.

I also was inquiring about Ebay style coilover springs, was looking for the cheapest way to get my car lowered. I somehow ended up with Eibach Sportlines, and Koni Yellow sports with adjustable stiffness.
You guys have very nice ride heights!</TD></TR></TABLE>
what your saying is some what true bro, my uncles EG has agx's in the front and illuminas in the rear and hes running some no brand name coilovers. I've been in the car and it rides pretty smooth. I"m sure its the shocks working not the coilovers.

She won't be too happy with it when those shocks blow out and the car bounces all over the place.
GR-2's = teh suck for any sort of considerable drop.

the car is on neuspeed race springs now, rides like a dream.
i know that putting any other sort of spring will not work well with these struts... but if they are the same as stock struts. many people have even ran stock struts and race springs with great results.
trust me, i know the ride is going to suck with a coilover on gr2's. maybeill just put the stock ones on and blow them out

It would probably ride the same whether on gr2 or stockies. Might as well blow out the stock struts and keep the gr2s w/the springs since they ride good with them.
I haven't driven my car in a while and damn it's smooth for being all the way down on my ghetto-*** suspension.

I don't see how, my buddy put Neuspeed Race springs on Tokico HP shocks back in the day and it rode like total **** hole. Worst riding car I've ever been in
He switched to Koni Sport shocks and it was like night and day difference.

Rotas don't really affect anything in terms of ride quality or handling. They just cause people who are sticklers for "authentic JDM" to be butt-hurt because their "authentic" wheels cost 4x as much as Rotas. eBay suspension, on the other hand, is just crap all the way around.

You would be correct, marginally better than OEM shocks in terms of how well it can handle shorter, stiffer springs.

For a daily driven car that isn't modified for performance, just look; the gr2's and race springs ride almost stock. Very little shock over huge bumps. It still has some body roll and is obviously not a Auto-X car. For a track car, I would have chose something different. The car rides like it isn't modified, and thats what the goal of the spring/strut setup was.
On the other hand, my GC/AGX and Omnipower/Illuminas, while turned all the way down rode super rough (but I enjoy it). It was not comfy to drive to the average person, I felt every rock in the road and it was unbearable at times.
It overall depends on WHAT the car will be used for. That is the pickle I am in now; A car that rides semi-stock and is low.

I'm kind of in your area, if you head to any meets I'd like to get a ride
