I have experience in autobody tech, and IMHO the finish could be better. For a trained eye, I can see that the paint is kind of "foggy" and has insufficient "coverage". I say this because I can see light and dark spots in the paint which means that the paint wasnt put on evenly. I could be wrong and it might just be the pictures so please take no offense. Usually we use a dark primer/sealers behind dark colors and light sealers on light colors to help out "coverage" but it looks like your car was either light colored before or they used the wrong colored sealer. I'm not a fan of that bodykit either but whocares. Other than that the car looks fine. I give it a 7 from a rating of 1-10.

What grit paper did you use to sand down the car before you/they painted?
What color was your car before?
Any finished pics?

here's one of my favorites:

i take no offense....but i dont remember seeing any "light spots"..im goin to try and finish it this weekend...its basically a weekend project so its time consuming, but is coming along. i like that teg alot, wish i woulda just gotten that lip instead of a bodykit, but o well im happy. before hand the car was black and we wetsanded with 400 i believe....we did a good job and the primer almost had a shine to it..lol

Looks good.
Could use some wetsanding with 2000 and then some compound.

I'm getting ready to paint my car; should I primer/sealer before I paint it? I'm putting green over red.

Prepping your car: sand with 500 grit or finer(400 on primer). You only need primer on imperfections so you can block sand them straight. Sealer is used right before you put on base/clear because it allows adhesion and faster coverage(if you used the right color sealer). Use a dark colored sealer for darker new finishes, and vice versa. Meaning if your green is dark, then I would probably use a dark grey to black sealer to hide the red.

so "ebpG2" what color was your car before? I'm guessing that it was a light color. Goodluck on the finished product.

I'm thinking about painting my eg myself. When yall paint your cars yourselves, are you guys setting up a paint booth or so? Any direction on paint a car in a garage or so?

Thanks

IMO I wouldn't paint in a homemade booth or garage. You need a reall one to keep your paint job clean and not only that, it's a safety issue. The pro-booths allow for ventillation which sucks out all the fumes and provide fresh air at the same time. This provides cleaner air to be filtered through your respirator, and allows proper solvent flash-off on your freshly sprayed paint.

I have however, seen a lot of people paint thier cars in a homemade booth with fans and filters. The finish on the car was pretty good, and any dust that gets on the car would be sanded out and buffed to a shine. This is a perfect alternative to save costs, but can be illegal in most areas. Again safety is still sacrificed with these homemade booths(unless you have a fresh air supplied respirator) because the fans aren't strong enough to vent off fumes fast enough.

becareful painting near objects that you dont want painted because the fumes carry atomized paint and it will fall and stick on anything. To help reduce this chance, use a filter in front of your exhaust fan.

my car was originally black, but had faded, had some rust and was a very bad paintjob that was done to fix some panels.
