They're really cheap, and the people that buy them typically just want to go for a look that's sort of, kind of like something that's worth attention. Most people I've seen with these sort of wheels grow out of the style rather quickly, and move on. It's mainly a fad for those who don't spend the time to think of a style of their own and want to follow a trend.
