what does code p1705 mean
hi,
i have honda accord 2000 LX and the check engine light is on and D4 blinks when i am driving. i went to autozone and checked the code . it was p1705. this the third time the same symptoms has happened. First time i went to honda dealer they said it was due to security system and i removed it .
second time it happened they said nothing is wrong and they just reset the check engine light. This is the third time it is happening and i don't have any security system. i am tired of getting ripped off by the honda dealers by paying 80 dollars just to reset the check engine light. does anybody know what might be the issue . also i noticed that the check engine light comes on the day when it is raining and i hit 60m/h. also is there any way i can reset the check engine light.
thanks

P1705 means : Automatic transaxle for whatever that provide. I don't know what to do or check about this.
TO reset your check engine light, either disconnect the battery for a while or remove the ecu fuse under the dash.

The only thing that I can think of that is common to the function of both the Transmission AND the EFI ECM (Engine Control Module) is the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor. What buggers up this theory is that usually when the VSS goes South, it takes the speedo along with it. Let me look furthur.
P1705 is correct for the "Auto Transmission" pointer.
Since you mentioned "Rain", I might suggest that you eyeball all the electrical connectors to the Transmission. Water may be getting into one (or more)

Found it:
P1705, Automatic Transaxle (Acura, Honda). P1705, Transmisson Range Sensor
Out Of Range. Probably refers to the shifter quadrant selector sensor.

Possibly from some fluid intrusion from a cup of close proximity spilling it's soda (Tonic to some) down into the shifter.
In effect, the ECM is going "Dumb ***" 'cuz it can't fathom what gear range is being called for.

: i am a installer for mobile electronics......i installed a remote start/keyless security system into a 2002 accord v6 Auto transmission.....everthing worked fine until i went to back it out and when i put it in reverse that is when i for the p1705 CEL code and TCS light came up....also the D4 light started flashing......i have installed the same system on many other honda just like this one......i took the alarm out and then reset the CEL and it didnt come back but the TCS still stayed on.
