Default Thunk into reverse when cold

Hi, I recently bought a dirt cheep v6 auto accord 270k Miles (1500$). I know these cars have trash transmissions and mine is no exception. The 2 main issues I've found on mine is a thunk into reverse when the fluid is cold. and what I suspect is an out of adjustment shift cable. when i put it in 2 i need to hold it between 2/D3 for it to stay in 2nd. I've look under the car to see if i could conveniently adjust the cable and found no luck. I put in a new torque converter solenoid in (because its the cheapest option) and felt a minor difference in regular driveling but it didn't affect wither of my main issues. because this car was so cheap I'm trying to put as little money in the as possible however as a mechanic by trade my time is free. Any suggestions on where to start for fixing this issue?
Final question, what does a new/refurbished trans. cost and how difficult is the 5speed swap I've seen mention on a few other Poasts
