Starting Problem
I have a 2000 EX V6 auto trans. It seems to have the symptoms of the main relay problem. That is it will not start occasionaly after sitting in the sun all day. I live in CA high desert and daytime temps have been typically running in the low 100s. Does my car have this main relay and is it located in same area of the older cars that have been discussed on this forum? My mechanic wants to replace the fuel pump for $380. If I can replace the main relay for less than $100 or better yet repair it my self I'll be happy.
what does it do when you try to start it...i have a feeling it's the starter going bad personally...if when you turn the key, it goes click once, that is most likely the starter...this same thing has happened to me and many others across this board...
The starter works fine. The engine just turns over and it will not start. After waiting for a period of time it will start and run just fine. Car has 63,000 miles and my wife drives it to work every day and it sits in the sun all day.
First things I would check:
Plugs
Wires
Air filter
I would also run some fuel system cleaner through it...but I don't know about main relays going out on a 6th gen in 63K
