Default Shocks

I am not going to work with this. Coil Overs are a waist a money and time. The car don't bounce the way it did before, but it still bounce, I was ridding at about 100 mph and I hit a little dip on the highway and the car bounced and scared the Hell out of me. I don't know why anyone would want to put coil overs on there car, First it is too hard to ajust them you have to jack up the car and remove the wheels just to do that too much work. I am going to buy the correct springs and shocks to make this drop work. Does anyone suggest a brand that would be reasonable to purchuse?

the reason it bounces is because the stock shocks are not valved for the type of spring rate the coil overs have.

get a good shock like bilstein, kyb agx or konis and the brooklyn bounce goes away

I called Nopi and they told me that it will still bounce if I just change the shocks to a better shock. I don't want to waste money experementing on this. I just want the tight suspension like German cars have.

You might wanna buy a German car then. But seriously, Bilstein is a German company. They makes shocks for Audi's and BMW's.

Dude, you car will not have this kind of suspension with only coil overs. If you seriously want to make your car handle good, replace all your suspension components, which includes aftermarket shocks like bilstein (made in germany). Theres no single component of your car's suspension that you are can to change out to make it handle like an m3, just starting doing it all.

Good point. Springs, shocks, bushings, control arms, tie rods and joints, sway bars, and structural regidity with tie bars all play a role. So does weight distribution and balance. So does the fact that most German cars besides VW's are RWD.

Yup yup. German cars behave the way they do because they are engineered from the ground up to be a good handling car. That, among other things, is reflected in the price.

What I dont get is that German cars started out being so expensive because they were all imported. But now that they are made here for the most part, why are they still so expensive?

It depends... as far bmw goes the M3 is still manufactured in Germany, but all Z3s are from ?South Carolina? or somewhere close.

So M cars are all made in Germany?
Yes and no. At the Greer, SC factory, all Z3s, M Coupes, M Roadsters, and X5s are assembled. However, all M motors are built near Munich, and then crated over. The US is simply an assembly plant. However, many of the car's components are manufactured by U.S. companies.
