Default Security Code

ok so i disconnected my battery and now i need the security code for my oem honda 6 disc changer ... what an idiot lol ... so is my only option calling up or going to the dealer?

yeah, you're going to need the unit out of the dash to get ref. numbers off the back so they can look it up for you. i would check the owners manual for a card or a five digit numerical code writen near the audio page or in the covers. check this before you pull the dash apart.

when i got the car it didnt include a owners manual ... well i have the serial and model numbers ... i guess ill be calling the dealer tomorrow ... but thx for the info

i called up a honda dealer ... they said i need to bring the car in ... i forgot to ask if theres its free or im going to get charged ... im thinking what for i have my serial and model number and my vin ... or are they just trying to get money out of me?

they're going to take the head unit out of the dash and use the number on the back of it to look up your code. the code from another vehicle won't work. you're vin won't tell them anything because it's not listed by vin. pretty sure they'll charge you somthing, maybe a half hour... i'm not sure. that's about how long it takes me to get one out call the dealer and put it back in.

your talking about the serial number right? ... i have that i already and i also got the model and a ref. number ... whatever that is ... im going to try calling another dealer because taking my car in is just going to be a waste of money and time ...

If you have the radio's serial number and whatever other numbers are back there, the dealership will give you the security code at no cost if you show them proof of ownership (registration). If you take it in and they have to remove the radio to get the serial number then yes, you will be charged (probably 30 or 45 minutes of labor but this is just a guess).

You could also just call dealer to dealer and find one that gives you the code without your having to bring it in.

i went to a honda dealer in reseda ... i took them my registration and serial number ... it was only $10 ... i just didnt want to drive to the nearest honda dealer which is 20 minutes away ... but atleast i have the code now ... thx for all the help
