Default Rust???

hey what's up all. my 4th gen accord is rusting really bad by the rear tires. i was thinking if i could buy a rear qtr panel and have it painted and install it myself. would this solve the rust problem? or is there more to the rust than just the body panel? is it hard to install a rear body panel? here's a link to where i can get this body panel and how it looks like. http://www.autobodypartsonline.com....-44102033841.67
or would it be cheaper for me to just sand off the rust and weld on some metal? thanks!!!!!!!!!

This is a common problem w/ 4th & 5th gen accords. Replacing the panel won't do you any good if you don't get rid of what is causing it. Your gonna need to pull the wheels well liner out and get in there to see what is causing the rust. My bet it when ever it rains or you get the car wet, water builds up in there somehow and never dries out thoroughly. Also bet there is alot of sand & **** in there that stays wet as well. Find the root cause or your gonna pay $$ to shops to fix it everytime. Happened to me on my 5th gen. Took it to a body shop to fix. THey grinded all the visible rust away and then applied a rust prohibiter (I think), to stop the rust in its tracks. Hope this helps!

there is a little rubber strip that runs along the fender that you can take off this traps some water and leads it right to that spot. It won't help fix it but it should stop spreading as much. Worked for me anyway.

What can be used to reapply this wheel liner?

I have the same problem on the passenger side. Its starting to crack through so I'll have to get it sanded, treated, primed, painted etc. soon.

I also noted the driver side is getting wet at the same spot inside the truck. There is no rust there. Is that coming from the same spot?

Does anyone in the MD area recommend a body shop for the rust?

What part of maryland i am in frederick and there are a few good shops not sure of price though. Creative colors are suppose to do real good work, R and F bodyworks is alright. Quality collision real expensive but suppose to be good. if you can't find anything just go to maaco they do that stuff probably expensive though

I'm in Howard County but was thinking I'd get a better deal in Baltimore County or the city. Didn't know how well it'd match afterwards, but it'll better than where its at now. Then I was thinking of using a rust preventor on the inside where it rusts through.
