yep, there is a wire you can cut, I have it saved on my other computer. I decided that was information I didnt need to know though. It sound like something is wrong with your car though. Not being able to rev past 4k RPM. That is pretty high speeds though, isnt it? At about 60MPH, I'm reving at about 2 - 2.25 RPM in 5th gear.

Are you trying to rev an automatic in park or neutral?? Or is this while in drive, going down the road?

You say 5th, so i'll assume it's a manual, and you can't go past 4K? Is the car an EX, LX, DX? You're either hitting the aerodynamic wall that your car doesn't have enough power to push past, or you're hitting the speed governor. Both are forms of idiot protection, though obviously they're not enough.

Its the speed limiter.. I wouldnt reccomend going that fast on a public road at all. It is HIGHLY dangerous and reckless..

I do have an ecu from a 92 accord ex that doesnt have a speed govener. If you want a price PM me.

Check engine light on?
if you are running the ECU in default you can't rev up.

My car was doing the same but turns out my tach was off but 500-800rpms. I put a checkengine shiftlight in my ecu(p28 w/ chrom) at like 6200 and it always came one around 5500. I've been curious what my car can rev too with stock internals in both head and block without blowing or floating a cam but that may need to be another thread. your most likely hitting a speed limiter.

Its not good to rev our engines with stock internals past 6K. They dont make any power past 6000.

Valve lash will be your first opponent, but shortly after, the entire bottom end is prone to fail due to oil starvation.

The speed governor on the LX accord is 115MPH. My tach bounces. I did it once on a track. I found out how to remove it, but I would never go that fast on the road, so I dont really need it.
