Default Quick question

I feel like an idiot for asking this, but anyways, say you unscrew your gas cap and just dumped gas in the spout, WITHOUT a funnel to open the spring loaded door for the gas nozzle when pumping gas. I know it sits there and SLOWLY drains but does it go in the tank or what?

Reason being is I am starting to use Marvel Mystery Oil and since I use 6oz and didnt have a filter I just dumped it in like I stated above. It went down a bit but then I saw a bunch of it draining on the ground.

Yes: under the spring loaded valve there is just the fuel filler tube leading straight into your tank. I had a similar problem adding fuel additive: some oil spilled out of the spout. I use a short piece of plastic pipe to keep the spring loaded valve open when I need to add stuff to my fuel.

So it does go in the tank, or no? Because I see it drain on the ground but not as much as I put in.
