PROBLEM...NEED HELP QUICK
okay...i was at red lights and was driving aggresive and this is what happened
lights turned green, so i was revving the car and it took off (tires spun abit, but not much)....so i redline and drop into 2nd...same thing...i red line and drop into 3rd....then i redline and dropped into 4th, and i realized i redlined so fast and i even entered into the redzone so i dropped into 5th
but i realized that when i dropped into 4th and 5th, only my tach was moving...my speeed wasnt...the gears basically weren't picking up speed, (thas why i entered into teh redzone)
then i pulled over and realize there was some type of burning smell
i popped the hood...didn't see any leaks of any type, but just teh burning smell.
it seemed to be coming from behind the cover that hides the stock headers.
so i let the car rest at a near by gas station about 15 mins...and then drove offf....gears were now fine...but i still smell that burning stuff when i get out of the car.
its a 96 exr 5 speed....only thing is exhaust and coldair intake
any ideas?

Good god. What are you doing driving a car that way when you have no idea what you are even doing. I'm suprised you know how to drive a stick.

Header or exhaust manifold, not headers. It's called a valve cover, its where the spark plugs and the oil cap, are at.
The burning smell is most likely oil. Probobally a blown head gasket. Take the car to the same shop you had your intake installed at and have them fix it.

okay...from what i heard...my clutch plates slipped and burned out my clutch. before my pedal used to engage low, now its near the top. car still smells slightly every time i drive it, not enuff to notice it inside the car, but when i get out, it always smells infront of the hood.
so...do i have to get this fixed right away? or can i just keep driving the car?

lol w0w you burned out your clutch...
its not that expensive just get another one.... lol i bet you were really scared huh.. and i bet you though you were going really fast cuz it readlined so quik lol... well i uno but uhm yea get it replaced at your local car shop.... how long have you hard your car... and if you keep drivng with it burned out.. pretty soon you car wont go anywhere and the clutch will just keep slipping and then screw up sumthing else.. you deffinately wont be able to go fast... as it seems like you do..

if you redlined the car in 3rd gear your going 70+ mph....and if the revs jump in gear without the car accelerating than your clutch is slipping...
unless youve got a hoise, pulling the clutch is a pain in the ***, IMO

70 in 3rd.. is that good or bad.. im not saying for the motor or anything.. but ppl complain about the accords long gears.. but that just means you shift less right? i think i like it... cuz when other pll are shifting into 4th at 55mph.. im still in 3rd at 70.. well i unno im just confused now
............but yea take it to a shop its to much work to diy and i dont think your capable of it.. but im prolly not either...

what im saying is that 3rd gear readlines around like 70 or 80.....theres no way you should ever be readlining 3rd gear unless your at a drag stip....4th gear pulls well enough to get to highway speeds
rember, 5th gear is an overdrive....its there to maximize fuel economy on highway cruises

uhg.. its been a while since i drove the accord..3rd goes up to 80 doesnt it.. yea i think so lets see... 1st> 0-20 2nd>20-60 3rd>60-80 4th>80-110 5th>110-...
i'm in toronto, ontario...so i'm talkin about KM/H not Miles
usually when i'm driving....at 80 km/h, i'm in 5th gear and at 2000 rpm
that day, i was at 80km/h, and i was just throwing it into 4th.

I wouldn't be surprised if you needed to have the flywheel surface ground when you install that new clutch (any automotive machine shop will do this for you). When you get it apart look for blue/grey discolorations which look like scuff marks on the flywheels surface. If you have them, they are hot spots that developed when you overheated your clutch. Failure to address them (if you've got them) will probably cause the new clutch to chatter when applied.
Think of your flywheel much like a brake rotor, and what happens when the rotor overheats (off to the brake lathe it goes........)
