Default Normal Shift points?

Hey guys, was wondering what the normal shift points for my 1997 auto accord wagon 4cyl would be. It usually shifts around high 2k rpms from 2nd to 3rd.

Also on the highway, at 65, it is usually at 2600rpm. I think that is pretty high, any suggestions?

And lastly, i went to do a top speed run and noticed around 85 mph, the car takes a long time to reach 95. Like after 80-85 mph, the rpms go back down to like 3500 and stay there while its taking a longer time to reach a higher speed.

Thank you

2600 rpm at that speed isn't high at all. I think the rpms drop at that speed because the torque converter is locking up, not 100% sure though.

On the highway its like 2600rpm for 65 mph. I thought it would be around 2k to save some gas. So i guess it is normal.

Also it normally shifts at 3k rpm if your easy on the gas and not flooring it? (automatic tranny)

The reason it takes so long to get from 80 to 95 is becuase of the Accord's long gears. If you were to step into the peddle a bit more I think you would see it go a bit faster, it would drop into a lower gear.

In my 5spd 96 Accord I would be in the 2200-2400rpm range while cruising @ 120km/h (75Mph) I always shifted my manual in the 35-4500rpm range. 2600-3000rpm would be if I was just putting around town.

F22B1/2 engine specs
Peak tq = 4500rpm
Peak hp = 5500rpm

Shifting well below the peak numbers is why it takes so long to get from XXmph to XXmph. That is why "autotragic" trans are no fun and should be left to the driving impaired!...

Agreed / Confirmed - 1994 Accord Manual 5 Speed at 3000 = 78 MPH ("slight" variations may be seen on dash due to VSS, tachometer, etc.)
2750 = 70 MPH
