Icon3 '97 Accord transmission/speed sensor issue?

I have a '97 Accord LX, automatic transmission When beginning to accelerate it hesitates (feels like it is in neutral & will roll) for several seconds before it starts in drive and begins to move. Once it does accelerate it shifts rough. This doesn't seem to happen each time it is driven. I had the transmission checked as we had this problem about 6 months ago and replaced the transmission fluid with Honda ATF and seemed to drive much better. Was told by the tech about the history of Honda transmissions but couldn't find any problems with this one. However, over the weekend began shifting very rough, some sort of grinding noises and the check engine light is now on and code is for the speed sensor. Would the speed sensor be causing these problems or is there another problem that may be affecting the speed sensor?

The grinding noise is not a good thing. Here is a link to a TSB; but, the grinding noise may lead to having to get the transmission replaced.
