map sensor test

map sensor test
Okay so I'm testing my map sensor now.
Obviously I don't have a $600 test harness so I'm testing it like my tps.
I hooked my vacuum gauge directly up to it and cut open the signal wire which is the middle wire on the map sensor. I then plugged in the map sensor and turned the ignition to on. I put my power lead on that wire and ground wire to ground on battery.
Mitchell says voltage should be 3 volts. I'm getting around 5.21v
It says that with vacuum applied in the following manner I should be getting the following readings.
0 -> 2.8-3.0
5 -> 2.3-2.5
10 -> 1.8-2.0
15 -> 1.3-1.5
20 -> .8-1.0
25 -> .3-.5
When I give it 25 in of vacuum the lowest it will go is 4.26v . Did I test this thing right and if so I'm assuming it's safe to assume this thing is bad ?
thanks in advance

Re: map sensor test
I put the wires back together and started it up and it's finally throwing a code. I think it was just bad enough to where it wasn't throwing a code for me.
