Default Maintenance Required light!?!?!?!?!

alright earlier i noticed that, that little square box on the bottom of my speedometer, looks a little like it's on, lighted up a little bit, but it use to be orange and now it's red.....what does that mean, i know it's maintenance required but what does the orange and red color mean, also what are the possibilities making this light go on, does it also stay on when the car is off??????please help.

its not a light, its a little tab that turns colors, it goes to red after 7500 miles, its easy to reset, what year is the accord?

its only hooked to the odometer, its not a real indication of anything wrong with the car, just a reminder to do service. If you look in the owners manual it will tell you. to turn it green, stick your key in the small black hole that is on the plastic right near the "light", that will reset it

Your car will self destruct in 10 seconds.......I find that that indicator is a neat little reminder for me to check things on the car like brakes, CV boots and now i am 200 miles away from a Timing belt replacement on my car...

I change my oil every 3K and the little sticker they put in the upper left corner reminds me when it is time again..

If you have had your oil changed, then the tech would have reset the indicator. It's not a light.
Look on your dash, there should be a little rectangular button in the lower left corner. Use your ignition key to push it to reset after an oil change.
