Default Keyless Entry

Did any of the 5th gen Accords come stock with keyless entry? I have a 97 V6 LX and was wanting to get a keyless entry system but don't want to get an aftermarket one. If not, can I wire one from a 6th gen Accord into mine?

Alright, thank you.

I do know that some of the EX models came with security systems and **** but I don't know if they came with keyless entry too.

I just want it because I miss it from when I had my 97 GSX and I get sick of having to unlock my door and then unlock the other doors from inside to let someone inside.

I know that feeling! I had keyless entry in my previous 2 cars! lol BTW - just out of curiosity why does it say in your sig that your 97 GSX is a POS? most eclipse turbo owners love their cars I thought?

I loved it when it wasn't having problems.

I think what happened is, I bought a turbo charged car that wasn't taken care of at all by the previous owner. It was a young woman, and you know how most young women tend to treat their cars. I guess she probably thought that she was hot **** driving a GSX and forgot about all the maintenance that went into DSMs to keep them good running cars.

About 3 weeks after I bought it, the turbo blew, crack on the manifold, wheel bearings replaced, recall was never done on the lower ball joints, timing belt and water pump had to be replaced because that was never done, when they first did the timing they fucked it up, transmission was going out, and it never idled right. The interior was junky plastic. I bought the car at a Toyota dealership and I bought a $2000, 3 year bumper to bumper warranty, the amount of repairs came out to be about $5000, I ended up having to pay only $400 because of deductibles and what not. Since I bought it from Toyota, all the work had to be done at Toyota. I ended up having to take it to Mitsu to have the timing corrected which cost me another $300 and Toyota refused to pay for it because they said the cause for the bad idling from the timing being fucked up was because of dirty gas. After I finally had the timing corrected, it still never wanted to idle right or run right, so I just said the hell with it after a couple months and sold it. It was fun in the winter though .

And that's why my DSM was a piece of ****.

It wasn't just the idle, it was the gas mileage, having to run premium fuel, and I kept having transmission problems. I still had the car when gas prices went up to over $3 a gallon just for regular gas and the car was only getting maybe 15-18 mpg and I have a 40 mile round trip to work. Plus, it just wasn't very comfortable to sit in anymore.

Thank you. I just called the dealer today and they want $79 for the remote and $250 for the security control unit. I'm going to see if I can find a used one or something.

Thanks for your guys' help.

I know what you mean, I got rid of my GTI 1.8T because I didnt want the high payments anymore first off, secondly though one of my biggest comlaints about that car was the crappy gas mileage, it required premium fuel, synthetic oil, and required timng belt and water pump replacement change every 50-60k miles, (VW's are know from crappy water pumps and timing belts/tensioners)

I'm not opting to get an aftermarket system.

I don't want one because I would like any accesories that I put on the car to be Honda parts. Don't ask why, I'm just a Honda nut I guess.

I bought a 2002 Accord, LX, last September and it had just a keyless entry. I bought a keyless/security system and removed the keyless system. I thought when I bought my new system, honda system, they told me it would work in a 97, cause my daughter has a 97. I don't have any remotes for it though. I can get the part number if you want...

Yeah, if you could do that I'd really appreciate it. Did they say that your plain keyless system would work in a 97 or the keyless/security system would work in the 97?

Another tidbit of info. I'm pretty sure that keyless entry was part of the stock audio unit too.

you're willing to spend the same or perhaps more for oem keyless entry than you would for an aftermarket unit that may provide a bit more security.

different strokes for different folks i guess.
