h22A problem....
I just purchased a 91 Accord wagon with a h22A engine in it.
I drove it for 167 miles one way no problem.
Started it up today and drove it another 15 miles.
All of a sudden it shut down on me. First I thought gas,
no half a tank. maybe the screw in the coil inside of the distributor came out, No..
can't figure it out. When I turn the key it cranks but want allow me to give it gas,
however if I hold the key down it will allow me to give it gas?
Any Answers???
Thanks, Happy Holidays

If, what you're saying is; the engine will run in the start position, but will stall if the keys' released; you've got a bad Ignition switch.
If it doesn't run at all, I'd suspect the main relay.
The failure would have felt like someone had shut off a switch (that fast)

Sounds like that could be the problem.
I will check it out in the morning.
I just noticed that there is broken cable comming off of the throttle body and it looks as if it is going to the tranny?

Sounds like what would be called a "downshift" cable. It links the Throttle input to the Throttle Body and co-ordinates it with what would be called a Throttle Valve in the transmission. It controls forced downshifts and the subsiquent upshift which follows.

Could this be my problem...
I don't think it is the ignition because it was running fine and like I said, all of a sudden it stopped. Then it would not start again.

No, stick with the Ignition Switch / Main Relay path.
The T/B to Trans Cable is a mechanical link only and has no bearing on the engine running (Or Not).

Thanks, I will try changing the ignition switch today, come to think about it, I would bet that the cable has been broken. The guy that I purchased it from told me that he thought his tranny was going out, due to it not wanting to shift properly at high RPM's.
Thanks, I will let you know whats up.

Could not change it today....
It needs to be ordered.
One guy told me to check and seee if a wire may have come loose
due to the car being shipped on a trailer hitting bumps.
Another guy told me to check the relay?
I am going to buy an ignition switch from a junk yard and check it out.
By the way I am about to pull the engine and swap it into my other
Wagon when I get it.
Thanks again, I'll keep you posted.

I finally got the ignition switch and installed it minutes 30 minutes ago,
No Go......
I put the original IS back in.
I think it is my fuel pump because now the pump is extremely load.
It starts out sounding load and gradually sounds like it is dieing. lower tones and slower sounds.
What do you think ?
I already bought a fuel filter, gut I am going to change the pump first , due to the noise it is making.
