Fuel Filter Problems
TodayI went to remove the fuel filter and am unable to get the nut off on the underside of the filter. The Hayes manual says to do it from the bottom but I can not figure out how to get to it. Anybody have any sugestions before I have to take it to shop and let them do it. I have a 95 EX by the way.
Its a bitch, won't lie to you there! The Helms dealor repair manual isn't any help either.
I got so fed up with it I just broke down and went to the dealorship. Of course it took them like 30 minutes. I was working on it from the top and from underneath, had a friend help me too. That bastard was on there tight!
If anyone knows something we don't to make it easier please chime in.

Raise the car up on the lift, use 2 18" 3/8 extensions with a 17mm crows foot on one to hold the filter base still, and a 14mm crows fot line wrench for the gas line fitting. hold the 'base' still with a breaker bar, then hook up a 3/8" impact to the the other extension. A couple bumps with the impact will break it loose.
Then you lower the lift, and remove the top 'banjo' bolt [long extension 17mm socket]from the filter, then a 10mm 1/4" drive swivel socket to take out the bolt holding the filter bracket.
