Foreign noise at high rev; troubleshoot
Lately I've been hearing a new noise coming from what sounds like the engine. However, when I try to pinpoint the source, I can't hear it. I'll do some further investigating, but for now.. The noise almost sounds like a grinding, or severe rattling/buzzing. This symptom happens both in PARK, and in DRIVE, and occurs when revving 4.5k-6k RPM's and letting off the throttle quickly, typically in 1st gear. **The noise happens immediately after I let off throttle, when the engine is slowing down.
The cars oil has always been changed religiously, and maintained well. I've inspected motor mounts, belts, and oil, and found nothing that could cause this. I fear that this is an internal problem (possibly valvetrain), or a transaxle issue (haven't heard this problem with this gen tranny).
Insight?
