I have an accord 99 and my check engine light has been on for a while because of my o2 sensor which I didn’t do anything about it for a long time. This morning the maintenance required light came on. These are the fault codes; P1457 and P0137. What should I do?

And to complete-the 0137 is for the sec O2 heater circut, low voltage-of course you knew that. As far as the maint light, some service interval has/is due. Not sure of the milage-oil change, replace air filter, ect. Check the owners manual for what it is telling you and how to re-set.

Welcome to the club. I did a write-up about it a while back: https://honda-tech.com/forums/showpo...28&postcount=5

If you live in the snow belt....salt corrodes the avap selanoid/valve purge assemble. Mine was shorted and showing error 1475....with a multi meter and everything off remove the leads going to the selanoid and check for open or shorts...the valve cost about 75 bucks. There was a service bullitin about this failure in areas where road salt is common. Good luck with this.

I think you mean 1457.
The continuity check will find shorted out solenoids, but one of the other problems with this, specifically with the canister vent shut valve, is that the metal clamps holding it together will rust and will allow air to be sucked in (vacuum can't be held), but the valve/solenoid will electrically test 'good'. You can't just go by whether there's a short or not - it may pass that test and still be bad.

I am sad to say I am a master technician at a honda dealership and work on evap malfunctions all the time. I have provided another user with some information that can help diagnose the system when a DTC is present. You can read the thread here. https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...ighlight=p1457

Along with specific tests, I give a general overview of how the system is designed and how the PCM performs the test to determine a fault.
