Default ECU problems!!!!

Whats up everybody? My problems started when my timing belt went out on me and my valves also bent. I had my engine redone and another problem was discovered. Supposedly my ECU is not working properly. It does not send out a signal to the third spark plug. Is this possible after the valves bending? They are charging me an extra $250 for a used ECU plus an extra $100 to replace key? Is this correct? Do I need to replace the key? Any comments appreciated.

P.S. Any info where I can get another ECU for a good price around So Cal?

yeah, the key and ECU are married to each other on some of the hondas.
I can't come up with any idea about the #3 not getting spark because of a T-belt problem though.
Are they sure the misfire isn't being caused by the valve not seating or closing all the way.....something along those lines?

1999 still has a distributor, right? Not coil packs?

If so, the ECU doesn't send separate 'signals' to each spark plug. There's only one ignitor & only one coil. Same circuit all the way out to the distributor rotor. If it's affecting ONLY one cylinder, then it has to be somehow downstream of the rotor. Like a mangled post in the distributor cap or a bad plug wire.

Of course, that is IF it's a spark problem... Don't be afraid to check what Dude says about valve problems.
