I was sitting at a red light at about 2:30 AM and all of a sudden I hear tires screaching and then BAM, I got rear-ended. This really sucks and now I am without a car while I wait for all the insurance stuff and the body shop to fix my car.

their insurance company should pay for a rental car for you. Call up the company and demand a rental car, that is what I did when I got rear ended like 4 years ago and they got one to me as quick as possible. If they refuse call your insurance company and get them to get the other company to get you one. If yu have a big insurance company such as USAA State Farm or any others like that they will get the job done.

 

the other insurance company has a legal responsibility to provide a rental car...it's not an option...but at 2:30 am? were they drunk? that sux...sorry to hear that!

How bad is the damage?

 

The guy just wasnt paying attention and it had just started to lightly rain. In my judgment the damage is in the $4000-$6000 range. It caved the entire left rear quarter panel in and the left corner of the bumper. The guy didnt have his insurance card on him so I dont even know if he has insurance or not.

 

Man, they will give any idiot a license. Getting a driver's license is a joke. They need to make the driving test like the SATs.

 

has anyone seen how hard it is to get a license in japan...it's crazi hard and really expensive...i remember reading something in Sports Compact Car about it! Here it's so easy to just get on the road and start driving...I wish it would be more of a challenge for everyone!

 

That sucks, I wish someone would lightly hit my front end so I can get a JDM conversion!

 

or even in Europe... in Germany it costs over $2400 (yes, USD) for license...

speaking of accidents, I'm having a bad day... on the way home last night, I hit a truck tire tread on I-66 and shattered my fiberglass front end, and the paint on my quarter panel is all FUBAR. i can't believe trucks are allowed to have re-tread tires, as this is the 2nd one that has caused damage to my car ($800 the first time, ~$900 this time).

 

well, i hope your impact didn't do as much as mine... in addition to a shattered front end, my front left quarter-panel is bent with cracked paint, my wheel is scarred, and my tie rod is out of adjustment...
