condensor fan problems

i have a 90 accord ex & the passenger side fan or condensor fan is not working, but when i wire the fan directly to the battery it works? what causes this and what to i have to do to fix it? Thanks

Is it plugged in?

it is probally the relay i would try to replace that and if you still have a problem then take it to some one who knows auto electric but i am pretty sure it is just a bad relay

That's what mine was, sort of. Noticed my a/c was kinda warm while idling and found my fan wasn't working (the large one though). Thought my fan motor was dead, but it came on when I jiggled the relay. Replaced the relay and it worked fine for awile and then started acting up again, and I found it to be the contacts between the relay and the power distribution box weren't making very good contact. I took a little screwdriver and carefully bent the little springy part of the contact in the fuse box (for lack of a better description, lol) so that they clamped together tightly, and I haven't had a single problem with it since (that was about 5 months ago, and I've used the a/c just about every single day since then, so they've been run quite a bit w/o prob)
