Ok so i want my car to go a little faster. Could i change the compression ratio? Kinda like the h22? Isnt the h22 the same as a civic, but with different ratio? Please let me know if i am making any sense. Thanks

no, i dont understand. the h22 just like a civic?

yes raising the compression ratio will increase hp, but only when you increase air, fuel and spark accordingly.

But by how may hp? And how do i go about changing the compression (steps and pricing for parts? How much does it cost? And most of all, is it worth it, or unsafe and usless?

it's a fairly safe way to get a few extra horses for a n/a engine, just make sure there's adequate fuel delivery and it's tuned properly. not sure what the average gains are but 9.5:1 will properly be like 10-15hp, 11:1 maybe 20-25hp. i'm just guessing here, but call the place you plan on getting your pistons from and they'll usually have some pretty good answers for you.

http://www.raceeng.com - Crower billet rods and Wiseco 11:1 pistons for the F-series.

Definitely worth it.

CR affects fuel prices, emissions, as well as costs a ton of money to increase, any more than small amounts anyway.

CR is one of the last resorts I use to make power in the engines we build at the shop....of course this depends on the application as well....the above mentioned articles are rather good.

Hey aaaallll04, the link is for Race Engineering; don't know why it's not working. Any way, they have a package that includes the Crower billet rods and Wiseco 11:1 pistons that runs about $1100. The pistons are for the stock bore F-series. I'm running them in my F22B2, and can highly recommend the upgrade; absolutely no problems. It's a completely safe upgrade, but fairly intensive. I'd only do it during a complete rebuild. Make sure that you have the basic bolt-ons (I/H/E), as well as some head work and the cam to take advantage of the higher CR.

couldnt you shave the head or deck a little bit... and use those paper thin head gaskets to raise it up a bit? get those adjustable cam gears so you don't affect timing....

I would suspect that people would want to lower their CR if they installed a turbo, to something in the area of 7:1? I see people put turbos on their H series engines... and I know they run higher amounts of compression than the F series... Is that safe on stock internals?
