Evaporative Emissions Control System Leakage (EVAP Canister System) code P1457 has been indicated is wrong with my 97 Honda Accord. Can I have any mechanic fix this or is it something only the dealership can fix?

 

mechanic can do it..if the canister is leaking you can just replace the canister with a new one..voila.

Search, someone posted the instructions from the Helm repair book.

Here's a thread, I posted part of the procedure, but it's for '98/'99. It'll give you a general idea but your '97 is a little bit different in the details.
