Code P1399
Good afternoon,
I’m not mechanically inclined by any means..so feel free to talk to me as an idiot on this subject and in layman’s terms
I have a 2002 Honda Accord EX, recently it seems to hesitate while starting. Doesn’t happen every time. Most recently when I started my car the check engine light flashed for 5-6 seconds and then away.
I scanned my car with a code reader and it came up as a “pending trouble code p1399 - misfire in any cylinder” I have not noticed any performance issues at all while driving, only when starting the car.
My question is what is most likely the problem? If I don’t do anything is this an issue that will get worse and cause a more expensive repair in the future?
Any info would be grate! Thank you!

Depending on the miles, I think the most common cause it the valves need to be adjusted.
However, it could be a clogged EGR, which you would take off and clean.
More rarely, it could need a tune up with new spark plugs, wire, distributor cap.
If you are not mechanically inclined....you would need to take it to a mechanic for the valve adjustment. You could spend some time getting the EGR off and cleaned and put back, and the plugs and wires you can definitely do.
