Default Code clearing question

Hi,

My TBS and ABS lights are on and I went to Honda and got it scanned. They said it was a faulty/out of place Left rear abs sensor, so I ordered the new part from them. My question is, do I have to do this at Honda or can I do this at an outside shop, and does the lights go off on there own or needs to be cleared? Don't want to waste extra money bringing it back and forth.

Thanks!

So the code needs to be cleared regardless if the part is replace or not?

If the problem isn't fixed, the code will just come right back.

After fixing it, the CEL will quit lighting up after a certain time, but the error code will still be stored to confuse you next time something breaks.

once you have it replaced whether its at honda or somewhere else you can reset your ecu yourself that way the code is not stored anymore. otherwise as jimblake said it will just come back on and it will be the same code and you will be highly confused!
