Default Clearing code p1382

Hi can anyone help me I have a 1998 Honda Accord LX 4 cylinder 2.3 l I wasn't able to pass emissions because I had 2 codes p1401 and p1382 I corrected the codes I've installed everything I've checked every wire I have a new distributor on new distributor cap a new distributor rotor I have a new starter I have a new battery I have a fairly new engine and transmission we've tested all the wires for p1382 but we can't get the code to go away the car runs beautifully the only problem is I need to pass emissions in Arizona and that p1382 code is the only thing holding me back... please if anyone can help me clear this code so I can pass emissions I would be so grateful

P1382 is CYP sensor no signal. The CYP sensor is in the distributor. Cause may be due to the distributor, wiring, connection, or PCM.

Normally, you can test the resistance of the sensor in the distributor. Since you already replaced the distributor, you can move on to test the wiring that runs from the PCM to the distributor, etc.

The PCM is located under the dash, center console area. You only need to remove the passenger side carpet clip to access the PCM connectors.




1. Disconnect the PCM Connector C (blue connector).
2. With a multi-meter, at the disconnected Connector C, measure the resistance between the cavity terminal no. 29 (yellow wire) and no. 30 (blk wire).

You want to see if there is resistance between 800 - 1500 ohms. If there isn't, there may be an open (break) in either the yellow wire or black wire that goes between the PCM and the distributor.

3. If there is resistance within specs., then that may indicate a faulty PCM.

4. You can also check for continuity to ground at Connector C cavity terminal no. 29.

If there is continuity, then that may indicate a short in the yellow wire that goes between the PCM and the distributor.

If there is no continuity, that may indicate a faulty PCM.
