CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CATALYST CODE) QUESTION ( f23a1 ) bypass code?
Hi everyone. I own a 01 accord lx with, a manual trans. (F23a1 engine) I replaced the original cat with a test pipe off ebay. I walked into an import performance shop and said I can clear the code even if I have a test pipe with some wiring from RadioShack. Since they do this for their customers. The performance shop quoted me $75 to bypass the code. I am wondering if anyone knows how to attempt and accomplish this project? This is much appreciated thanks everyone .........
My best Guess is that they are using resistors to fool the ECU.
One resistor to make the ECU see .7 volts from the sensor, and another resistor to simulate the heater circuit.
You could always Google Search O2 simulator.

Thanks to my good friend hondadude, I googled 02 simulator and found this forum on hondatech. This was done on an S2000. I am still not sure how this person did this to clear the code?

What you need is something like this;
http://www.team-integra.net/se...ID=25
What these little jewels do, is to generate the sensor signal in a swinging ramp.[ .2V-.9V]
Then the ECU 'sees' an average voltage that it accepts as good.[ lower than .7V]

The thing is that I already bought a test pipe called Megan off of ebay and it cost me 40 bucks. I dont want to half to buy another pipe. I thought that there might be another way of solving my check engine light problem.

you can fix this for $2.00:
buy an 18 mm spark plug defouler at auto zone.
drill out the small end of the defouler to 1/2"
clear the codes then screw your 2nd o2 sensor into the defouler and install the assembly into your test pipe.
whamo - no more code.
you can buy me a
for that one.
I bought the defouler and it came with two. The only thing is that they are both the same in height, length, and every angle. Will this have any affect on the project, meaning that one has to be smaller than the other? I will just drill one defouler to 1/2".
I'm not sure what you're asking. See the little hole in the bottom of the defouler? Drill that hole out to 1/2" wide. You will only be using that one. Screw the o2 sensor into it, install into test pipe, done.
What I mean is that the defouler came with two parts. One defouler and a second. Is one defouler supposed to be a smaller size or both parts, meaning the defouler supposed to be the same in size?

This is a link that I found for the same project including pics...

they're sold in packs of 2. they're the same size. use one. save the other for later.
I used to have pictures but Imagestation nuked all my pictures.
You don't need the 2nd one like they show in that link, it is not necessary.

Hmmm. I installed both on there. So i have two defoulers. One is for the O2 sensor, which was a pain in the but to drill 1/2 inch, using a drill bit that is crumby. That thing heated up like crazy...lol. After this was all said and done I screwed in the other defouler which I did not drill into the drilled defouler, then installed both onto the pipe...........Do you think this will affect what I am trying to accomplish by using two defouler?
Awesome....you are a blessing. I will try this out and I just cleared the ECU by taking out the 7.5 fuse (back up clock) and now the check engine light went out. I will drive and see what happens. Hopefully this works. I will let you all know and if you are around Michigan I will buy you a couple millers....
It works and will continue to, trust me. I pass inspection w/o any cat at all thanks to the $2.00 defouler... I'm not near MI at all (dammit!) but if I pass through there I'll let you know.

I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS. EVERYONE THIS IDEA IS INGENIOUS. ONLY A $4 PART WILL TAKE YOUR CATALYST CODE AWAY. JUST MAKE SURE YOU DRILL WITH A SHARP DRILL BIT. THATS THE ONLY HARD PART..........THERE IS NO MORE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR CATALYTIC CONVERTER. HONDA DUDE HIT ME UP AND I WILL BE GLAD TO TREAT YOU TO A COUPLE MILLER LITE'S. I APPRECIATE YOU HELPING ME WITH THIS PROJECT. I SAVED $85, WHICH A SHOP WOULD OF CHARGED ME.
Drove 1,000 miles and still no check engine light. Wow this really worked for $4 thanks to my good friends at honda-tech and notoriousB.
P.S. notoriousB message me so i can buy you a couple millers
