A/C problems
Hi friends. this is my first post in this forum, and I want to thank the administrator for this opportunity. I am troubleshooting my Honda Accord'97 SE 4 Cyl. A/C system. The compressor is not engaging when the A/C button is pressed. The cooling fan was turning on, when the A/C was pressed but the condenser fan was not. The underhood fuse (15 amp) was blown and replaced for the condenser fan. The condenser fan motor was replaced afterward but still does not turned on. The underdash fuse of 7.5 amps. is ok. I tested both relays (fan and clutch) and at least they sound ( made a click) when the coil was energized. When I jumped the pressure switch the idle was reduced and the cooling fan stopped working. Ever since that moment I have no compressor, no cooling and no condenser fan. The clutch engages when jumped with a (+) wire. The static pressure in the system is 90 psi. Any advice are welcome. Thank you.

Now both fans do not work? Even when the temp gets high or just when you turn on the ac (I know the compressor isn't on). Double check the fuses.
After getting back to "where you were", what is the actual votage coming from the compressor relay to the compressor.

Thank you poorman212. I just made all the tests from the service manual for the compressor at pages 22-14 and 22-15. All the tests were ok, from the fuses to the relays and the voltages at the connectors and at the ECM/PCM. The conclusion is that the ECM/PCM is bad. I don't have a replacement as indicated in the manual to test it, but there is no other explanation for the symptoms I have. If you think there is something I should look for please reply. Thank you.
I wonder if the ECM unit can be checked and repaired? The service manual leads to replace the ECU if all the other tests are ok. I am in the process of getting a used ECU to replace mine. Any information or assistance in this matter is welcomed. Thank you.

Thank you nus_dogg. This part is expensive, I saw it in the epc at $850.00. I am trying to get a used one for $75.00. Is this a common fault? I thought the ECM is a tough electronic part . Also, if there is a fault in the ECM, should there be a fault code (check engine) as well? Thank you again.
