acceleration issues..
hey guys! i have an acceleratiom issue on my 97 honda accord. it is a manual transmission btw.
the acceleration issue only seems to happen in first gear and usually ONLY happens when i give it a good amount of gas..
ill give it gas from a stop and when it gets to around 2500 RPMS(even with my foot on the gas pedal) it no longer accelerates. Almost like a loss of power, the RPMS drop also for a split second. But literally about a second later the acceleration kicks back in resulting in a jerky ride.
Also i forgot to mention it happens almost %100 of the time when im making a turn and giving it gas at the same time. when im just going in a straight line it does not happen as often.
This problem has been happening for about a week now and its driving me crazy replaced my tranny about 4 months ago so not sure if thats the issue, well at least i hope it isnt!
Thanks for any responses, hopefully i can get some answers or maybe a push in the right direction!

Re: acceleration issues..
Check your grounds. I recently bought a 90 Accord had a loose ground at the battery terminals mine kept cutting out at 2k then when it'd make its connection the car would move. When one of the main grounds are loose or have a bad connection it can cause those issues, no start and complete loss of power to the car.

Verify the main negative cable coming off the battery to the transmission is properly tightened.
Verify the engine mount has the main bonding cable still attached.

Re: acceleration issues..
sorry for the late response! ok judging by the feedback it might be a good idea to start off by checking my battery cables/grounds are not Loose or have a bad connection. Ill most likely check this weekend when i have proper lighting to be able to work on it.

Check the wiring to the sensors around and near the distributor.
VTEC solenoid switch is properly connected and no damage to the wiring harness. It is easy to damage pinch the wire harness if it is not secure during transmission replacement.
Agree with Manny, if the oil is low the VTEC will not function if the oil is low/low oil pressure. Junk in the VTEC solenoid will also hamper VTEC function. Check the wiring harness for damage.
Misfire code could be from several problems.
If the car has worn ignition components the spark may not be fully igniting the fuel.
If the car has over 100Kmiles, the EGR ports may be partially blocked causing a lean misfire during part throttle. Pull the EGR manifold and clean it and the ports to the intake runners.
If the car has over 100Kmiles the exhaust valves may be in need of adjustment. If they are too tight they will not fully seat/seal and loss of compression occurs = misfire.
All are easily checked for little to nothing with some hand tools.

yesterday i did a full oil change with oil filter replacement.
replaced all 4 spark plugs.
the code p1399 random cylinder misfire went away!!
p1253 vtec malfunction is still there tho =(
