AC Problem
I have a 94 Accord with a AC problem. A few weeks ago I began to smell what I believe to be leaking freon coming through my vents, accompanied by a sort of whistling sound. Each day the air was less cold until finally it was no longer cold at all. I filled it back up with freon and it again leaked out. I bought some freon with UV dye and searched for a leak but didn't come up anything. The compressor definitely kicks on when there is freon in the system and it blows cold until it leaks out. Anyone experience a similar situation or have any advice? Thanks.
The freon and oil bond together, so the oil will leave a track where the leak is.
Another common leak in those cars is the pressure switch, unplug the connector and look for an oil puddle in the switch connection.
Next time you recharge throw some refer oil in the system.

Well I finally found a spot with some dye on it. Right next to the clear drainage hose is a rubber black hose that appears to also be some kind of drainage hose. I shined the light on the end of the hose and there is dye visible on the end of it. This hose seems to go into the vehicle at the firewall...is this some kind of evaporator drainage? Does this mean my evaporator is leaking??
I spoke with Honda today and got a quote for a new evaporator install....$525 for everything. This seem like a high price? Is this something I can attempt on my own? I understand its located behind the glovebox.
