2 or 3 headlight settings?
For those of you with 1990 Accords or of that generation, do the headlights have 2 or 3 distinct settings?
Daylight
Evening
High Beam
Or is it...
Daylight/Evening (same brightness and angle)
High Beam
Ie. Are the daylight and evening settings the same brightness and angle or are they separate? It's been so long that I actually paid attention that I forget. I could have sworn that "turning on" the headlight switch actually made the lights brighter (or changed the angle), in between daylight and high beam settings but I could be wrong. Anyone with that gen accord set this straight? I can't tell because my daylight and evening settings are identical on my car and I don't know if it's broken or not.

For US Accords, first switch position is just front corner marking lights and running lights in the rear. Second setting is all the marker lights plus the low beams. Pulling the switch toward you turns on the high beams. Can't say for sure, but for the Canadian system with DRL, I suspect the DRL relay reduces the voltage to the low beams to reduce their brightness.
1. DRL is reduced voltage to the high beams
2. Low Beams
3. High Beams
When you switch to evening/low beam from DRL it switches from the high beam bulb over to the low beam and it is a bit brighter.

Thank you guys for the replies. In my Canadian accord it seems the component that reduces the voltage of the low beams for DRL is permanently set or stuck, so that my lights don't go brighter when I turn the low beam setting on at night. So basically I only have DRL and high beams, and no low beams. So if this is the case, is it an expensive repair and where would the component be located in the car in case I go the DIY route?
I ran across this while I was looking for wire diagrams a few months back. This may help with your problem. Could save you a few bucks as the DRL relay/box is expensive to replace.
