sad to see that this thread has died off(for a long time now). i remember the days where pages would fly by. discussions and pictures non stop. glad there are still guys out there building sick hatches in the squad. just sad that there isnt really a place for all of us to converge.

Key people have left. Hella_jdm, Ekizzle, revjdm, Mugen76, BigNevada, B16ferio....list goes on and on. They brought allot of traffic, mostly good but some bad *cough* Mark *coughchough* haha but they were all good guys. Some left before the HT switch, others left when HT made the switch - which personally in my opinion - changed the online community forever and will never be the same. So I do place some of the blame on the owners of Honda Tech.

NWP has turned into a political **** riding site. The whose who and one upping gets SO tiresome. It's about who has the most money on that site. Someone gets a new set of wheels and they will post in excitement, but you best believe they will arange other items to be in the picture just so the members can stroke his e-dick. My rare is more rare than your rare. Fan boy prices in classified section...$2k for a Spoon instrument cluster? $1,000 for Top Fuel bars??

We aren't a ******* Ferrari community people. It's way out of hand, but I only see it getting worse. Because people are stupid. Will the Ek Squad ever have a new roster? God I hope not. The golden era is one of the only things that we have left to hold onto...these newer 08' and up members will never understand what that golden era was about. So all they will do is continue to bad mouth it and stack hype upon hype.

Preach on Brother. I was far from being really active in this thread, but like you I built my car with some sort of purpose and didn't just throw expensive parts on it. Hell, I had knock off parts on my car. Not that there's anything wrong with building a car with fancy high end parts, but it became tiring to see everyone just throwing stuff on their cars to try to one up the next guy.

You're one of the few people who ever mention my car and I thank you for that. It was not low enough for the online community lol but F that. I drag race and that was my passion, being a part of the squad was just a perk and was cool while it lasted. Met a lot of great people and some that I am just friendly with just because we were part of the same "squad."

People like Goosse, Gambit and Yeej6 have been doing a great job of showing what it's all about. Building a car and having fun with it and not just doing it to be part of some crew.

Don't even get me started with the other site...

Your ride height was a running joke for me. People obviously didn't know that your car was a 1320 monster and would complain that it wasn't stuffing tire all-the-freaking-time. I just sat behind my screen and laughed because you could have have lined up with any of those ricers and beat them, in reverse.

I miss that car.

I'm still debating building another car come next year. Another 96-98 EK though for sure. I miss it. Plus I've got so many ideas for a creative and different build.

that was no rant, you definitely made your point. And just within this last 12 months I've really started to enjoy my car and truly understand what the word "enthusiast" means. It's not about the trophies, magazine covers or lap times. It's about sharing your passion with others and enjoying your car for yourself first and foremost. I've never been to a track day or CMI event that I felt awkward or left out. Everyone is there for the same reason, to have fun and enjoy all the hard work they've put into their cars. I never get that warm open vibe when I go to meets and even many of the "big" shows. Just a bunch of cool kids with their arms crossed looking down their noses at you while you attempt to admire their ride, and forget talking to them... Lol. Sadly many forums have become just that. An online meet/nut swinging contest..

I only payed 300 for my top fuel bars haha.. But I get the point you are making. It's starting to get out of control. One guy wanted 600 dollars for a spoon n1 with a broken hanger.... Retail is less than 500 brand new! It's these damn hipster kits with their sticker bombed cars and stancey pants wheels that are messing **** up.

 

cleanrice, bignevadabob and the rest of the old school guys you are all correct. I remember when I came up on the EK Squad thread here way back in the day. It was much simpler. It was actually a community where guys shared knowledge and thoughts. Now we have all these "e-dick riders" (love it by the way cleanrice) just trying to one up the other, or rocking there fake parts and making them off to be genuine ones.
The scene is ****! I learned a lot from the old guard and tried to implement that into my builds and to fellow enthusiasts around me, the later with no avail.
Yes pricing on most parts are way out there, but that's what forums, internet have done. Kids using mommy and daddy's cash or they are some hard up drug dealers that just don't give a **** about cost. They just want it to be cool.

Although I was never a part of the squad, I agree with yee, cleanrice, and b18. When I did my build, I didn't want flashy paint or wheels that didn't fit. I wanted someone who didn't know anything about honda's to not look twice at my car, I wanted to drive it everyday, and I wanted to be able to drive it hard. As everyone else said, everyone seems to be trying to one up the next guy, and thats all they care about. They build their cars for coverage, not for enjoyment.

 

I like so many old school builder built their cars for fun and to be apart of a community. Now it seems people build cars to just get attention then go to meets to try to act hard instead of chilling and meeting new people. Number one reason I havent been to a meet or show in 3 years. I hate how people now try to be all secret squirrels about where they got a part from or all secretive about what they are getting now.
