hey guys, i got my f1spec type 3 seat today (man, i hate bay area rush hour traffic). i got it mounted to my 88 crx on stock rails with mounts provided. some light modification was needed, took me a little to figure out what exactly needed to be done. the f1spec mounts work as long as your elongate the holes 1/8-1/4" more then they already are. not really an issue with a rat tail file and 10 minutes. im sitting about 3-4 inches lower then with my NRG (recaro srd replica) so my head doesnt hit the roof anymore and my blind spot caued by my rearview mirror is gone. you will never know how happy i am now. hehe, i feel like the lowrider song by war is playing in the background when im driving. the seat is a little over an inch from the ground, but not possible to go down any lower because the width of rails and the seat are about the same. so here is another option for those of us who are more budget minded, or dont want to spend 200 on rails. i would post pics but im pretty tired.
Dry ice owns. I need to get the residue out left over from the tar out of mine. I think I'm going to soak some rags in WD-40, cover the floor, then wipe/scrape it out, unless someone has a better way...

I told you guys a million times
acetone + dryice = the win
If your scared to lift paint ,then substitue acetone with IPA (isopropyl alcohol)

Even after all the tar is out? All that's left is the residue. I'm not worried about paint coming off. What mixture are we talking about? dry ice:acetone

there really wasnt much if any residue on my car after the dry ice treatment..
a bit of paint thinner got any gunk off. let the dry ice sit for a bit, and the junk usually pops off clean. never ceases to amaze me! its fun

Start with a litter of acetone and disolve as much dry ice as you can, maybe 2-3lbs. DO IT SLOW in the begining, hte acetone will "boil" as teh cold co2 transitions from solid to gas. But after 10-15 minutes after the acetone gets cold it should be fine to add at a normal rate. When saturated you will have a slushy around -78 degree celcius.

do we pour it on afterwards??
The dry ice pretty much took care of everything slthought I didn have some trouble spots (ie how the hell do you keep dry ice on the wheel base w/out it falling off
)
And there is some spots where there is that sealent stuff (right under the rear seat)

Yeah its a slurry so its more viscous than just solid dry ice. You get better coverage and the acetone eats the sticky **** at the same time. I would use a cheep paint brush and move it around. You could also u liquid N2
Thats what im going to use on my crx but i think u need a license to get it.

I dont think they get that cold, plus the **** left over doesnt evaporate. So inturn u have a mess left over. Organic solvents are very volatile

right on
I got pissed the first time I purchased the dry Ice.
I wasn't going to use it the same day so I stored it in my freezer. I came back two days later and yelled at my wife why the hell she used it and left a empty bag in the freezer...then I realized it evaporated on me

Yeah its short lived, the best bet is store it in a cooler and or wrapped in alum foil.

haha. I use liquid N2 everyday at work "schlumberger". That **** is cheap we get it for 40 cents a gallon. The only thing is that I dont think they would let me take it home. Hell I dont know how I could get it home. If you just put it in a gallon or bottle it will explode..lol..trust me I do it all the time at work.
