never said a ls crank couldnt balance out but it was never intended to go where a vtec head can make it go (I know it can but im a longevity kind of guy lol)

the only downfall is the D series (same part numnber) rod bolts.
R/S is over rated and i HOPE you understand that. i hope you understand that piston speed is not important. dwell time isnt. if the motor is degreed correctly dwell time is not as important as people think it is.
what is important, from my experience is a flat burn. 12:1 with a ctr piston and 12:1 with a pr3 piston and a milled head, and the pr3 piston motor will dominate.
i wont even get into the K24 situation and why that is a superior motor to anything made in the last 20 yrs.

i know r/s is overrated and I realize in any realworld situation none of us would ever encounter any problems with any oem combination in any engine d,h,b,k,f,w,z
but it still sits on the back of my brain
about why I love hondas
and I have experience in the pct vs. pr3 and the milled head
the pct has too much dome for that static compression
I heart Ks
all this engine talk and no talk about jdm marker lights has made me tired...going to bed

If we're talkin OEM pistons here, then the P61's are your friend.

hey i know I said I was going to bed but thats a question I had for a while
whats the difference between the 88,89 and 90,91 mouldings sorry for the stupid question but Ive never really seen a difference

U gotta brush up on your numbers, lol...B17 pistons. I dont think it gets any flatter than them (OEM).

brush up? pffffftttt b17 oem part numbers are usless unless you have one.
and the p72 is -6cc to be exact my man. thats the flattest.

Dang I learn more about motors in this thread than any other?
ok so omyef.com/wordpress is where i wanna start filling with some good content related to ef's
somethin that goes on that's hot, has good pics and has a lil i could write about, who's game

Well i have one, lol. Well i just recall the P61 being damn near as flat as can be. I dont know the specs on them. I would like to see the P72's and P61's side by side. Also, theres a very small amount of P61 part numbers, the rest is PR3 #'s.

ha well ill clue you in. the p72 IS flat. the -6cc is from the valve pockets themselves which are smaller than the other B pistons. this means that when you mill a head, you get V to P contact rigth at the back of the valve pocket. its a worthless piston unless you drag the pockets
so, i keep honda pistons next to my computer when chatting on HT, cuz im that fuggin hardcore and if you take that seriously youre a homo. but here is a p72 and if you look with a magnifying glass youll see your SN in the "re:" box

hahaha nah i just have a multitude of paper weights. your b17 would haul the mail with some P30s in there. it would be about perfect. and to be honest with you, i would LOVE to have a b17. i would put a piece of glass over the top of it, a couch behind it, some sports illustrateds on top of it and call it a coffee table. the deck height is perfect.

no. p73 is usdm ITR. p73J is jdm ITR and both are extremely different that a p72 which is a gsr. both are much much better pistons. they have 33mm valve pockets which leaves you a lot of room to play with for gettign that exhaust valve to close when you want it.
hey i took your advice on the paint. i eased back on the hardener. i heated the booth up just enough to make sure i didnt have bonding issues and the ***** drying.
it is going to be a 2 feet deep paint job.
my only concerns are the "small things" i have this attention to detail thing where ill spend even more time painting the little misscelaneous satin black items just to make the silver look that much better.
blade silver **** coming out of my nose ftw.

No **** i have a piston from a lawn mower and a few valves from a 350 as my paper wieghts, no bullshit, lol. Yea i bet i could benefit from higher compression.
Deck height? The block is the same as any other PR3.

oh duh yeah I was confusing myself about the pistons. I knew the p72's were gsr haha. Yeah I have the p73's in my newest motor, they seem to be better than the pr3's I had in my 2 previous builds which blew up!
Yeah you have to be careful with urethane paints and the mixing, especially when it comes to hardeners. You can play with the reducers quite a bit but not the hardeners.
Think of it like 5min epoxy. If you mix it 50/50 it bonds and dries very good. If you put too much hardener it dries faster but is more brittle and loses its bonding properties.

no i know what the deck height is. im just saying its knee level.
the b17 crank and rods would be a great cheating tool to a spec class racer who was forced to use a stock motor like a 95 delsol, or a 99-00 civic si.
other than that, i think its an awesome usdm honda rarity. **** jdm, embrace usdm heritage.
