The OFFICIAL DC Squad --Version 3--
Im ****ing tripping out, Im tired of people giving me advice when they dont know ****.
Tomorrow Im getting my fender and door fixed by a friend of the person who hit my car. If I get my car back and its NOT good enough, like the guy did a half *** job, can I still go through insurance after?
I HAVE TOLD THEM FLAT OUT IF ITS NOT GOOD ENOUGH I WILL EXPECT IT TO BE DONE CORRECTLY A SECOND TIME. But People keep telling me if I allow them to fix it the case is closed and insurance will tell me to **** myself.
Anyone know any TRUTH on this? Im supposed to bring it in tomorrow and my insurance company is obviously closed Sunday.

dude if you're going to be getting all nervous and worked up over it then just go through insurance and have it done somewhere that your prefer. it doesn't make you a dick or a bad person if you got hit and want your car fixed the right way, and it's not like the girl is going to be paying for it herself
eh nothing special haha i was gonna go do a photoshoot ish kinda after i washed her but wen we got to the spot i wanted to shoot in i noticed someone took my memory card
so no good pics i just took a few with the cell...now just waiting for this rain to go away so i can take pics

Yes I know. UGH. Everyone I talk to local about it minus my brother tells me Im doing the right thing by taking it on the chin and not getting it done perfect. And honestly, this **** IS stressing me out.
I just called her and told her this whole situation is making me waaaay nervous. She said shes going to speak with her parents. UGH. I feel like such an ***, even more because I waited like 4 days, up till the day before getting fixed, then called to change plans. I should have come to terms and bit the bullet instead of deciding this now.

just let the insurance handle it...you pay for insurance right? and you don't get anything from them except peace of mind in case something like this happens...just let them handle it...
@ this page. I'll leave it at that... Worked on the car a bit yesterday since it finally got into the high 30's. FML Snapped a quick picture before I headed in for some dinner.
I just spoke with the dad about going through insurance. He pleaded we not go through insurance so I said we wouldn't. He said he'd much rather just give me the money flat out for a body shop to fix it instead of go through insurance so I told him we'll avoid insurance and either have the guy he knows fix it or he'll give me whatever a body shop estimates it at.... which was 1800.
Yeah.... When I got that bumper and rushed everything to paint before IA, I didnt have enough time to pull it back off and fix it (as I was assembling my car the morning I left for IA and the bumper wasnt out of paint for more than 12 hours before I left
). I didnt cut the holes out big enough for the covers to fit correctly and have been mass busy/lazy since. It will be done soon though. JERK!
As far as that dude paying out of pocket goes... I'd tell him to give ya the cash and have a body shop of YOUR choice do the work. Last thing I'd want to do is somebody cutting corners to save their friend (dad of the girl that hit you) money. You say you don't want advice, but then you ask a question (first post on this page)
All that I'm saying is that I've seen people go through situations like these... and get screwed, and that is enough reason for me to get my car fixed correctly, the first time, by the insurance company that they have to cover situations just like this. Best of luck which ever route you go. Hope it all works out for you and your car comes out looking as nice, if not nicer than it did before she hit you.
high 30's !! ive been procrastinating and not doing that much work because the weather is bad (mid 60's) haha i need to man up and do work
Oh I wasn't saying I DON'T want advice. I just don't want advice from people who don't know what their talking about. Here alone there are two different ideas about how insurance works, obviously one of them was talking out their ***, whether they knew it or not.
But yeah, he is going to go out of pocket for the repair and Im going to take it to a shop I choose. Im going to have him give me money upfront to buy a fender instead of the shop buying a 400 dollar fender. Zooyost posted a site that sold them for like 120. Ill still save him a couple hundred bucks but Ill get my **** repairs the way I want it.
Thanks for the help guys

mid 60's is pretty cold haha cant wait to move somewhere that has seasons.. right now it is 61 degrees out and sprinkling...and people are freaking out lol
im still on my original team, i just dont fly colors anymore because of all the things that happened with the team last year..
I'd love 60's degree weather now, I could get a lot done, unlike this 30 dregree freezing rain turing into 10 to 12 inches of snow later tonight! I haven't been able to do anything to my car for over 2 months.

1. Whatever you decide to do, make sure there is written agreement (signed and dated by both parties in the presence of two witnesses or a notary public, who will also sign the document) between both parties (you and the op). This is to ensure your safety. Further, the statement should clearly identify the agreement.
2. If you take the money from the OP; take it to a shop of YOUR choosing, you have now sucessfully let the OP off from any future issues ie., if the shop YOU CHOOSE does a **** job, that's your problem because you took your car to a shop that you trusted. Even if you did have an agreement written/signed between the two of you, if it ever goes to the insurance/court, that agreement is no longer valid because rather than you letting the OP fix the issue in good faith, you decided it was in your best interest to take upon that particular responsiblity of getting it fixed.
PM if you need any more help/suggestion.
Forgot to mention, by you doing this, the insurance company is no longer involved. Time is critical when insurance companies are involved. If you didn't make a claim in the beginning, don't expect that things will be in your favor now even if you were to file a claim.

Hahahah.
