God damn guys I'm really starting to hate my hatch now... I just learned that once you fail to pass smog you gotta get a smog test every year, and a smog test is a bitch because you can't find your way outta it, no loophole like a smog check. So basically I'm gonna sell my hatch for sure now, because there's no point in going for my LS/V-T setup now if I gotta get a damn test every year just to register my car. A homie that graduated from UTI said that test's are done through government so you can't get outta it and a check is just done through the dmv or some **** so I'm screwed... Bottom line is once I fix my hatch it's gone to my girlfriend's/friend who offered $5,000, I'm seriously fed up with my ****. I've had too much bad luck with my hatch esp. with the police. I'm strongly considering getting an S2000 now. What do you guys think?

 

what are the smog tests about? what do they measure?

 

well why not just do something else with the car instead of LS/VTEC alot of people with swaps must do something to past the test? I don't really know but just a suggestion. Also and S2K is a nice replacement which I plan on doing one day but you will miss the hatch that is why I plan on keeping mine. There is just something about it that is just to hard to let go.

Are you sure about that? I've never heard anything about that. Is that recently new? i've failed smog tests plenty of time, but I still only have to do it every two years. You are right about smog test somewhat, theres the regular check every two years you have to show the dmv to get registration, and then theres the test that CA just suprises you where you have to go to a "test only" station. The tree huggers here just want to make sure your making the air safe here. But its not ever year they do it, they give it to everybody, they'll pick randomly and send the folk to the test only test. If you can find a hook up at a test only station you should be good, and plus your in so cal, im sure you can find plenty of folks. Good luck with whatever goes on, I can never give up my hatch, no matter what ive been thru with it. and trust...its been alot, either problems with her or the police.

If swapped, you need a CAR BAR sticker to smog your car legally, to obtained that first you must pass the smog at the bar station. you can pretty much do it with a stock motor as long as everything emission related is hooked up correctly.

 

that is what I was thinking to. It is do able but just got to know what to do.

damn, if that's true then i'm screwed! i've failed at the ref three times already trying to BAR my hatch. this does not look good. might be in the same boat as you pretty soon.

You remember when we met right? That guy with the black Si that was with me (his name is Jason). He had a H22 swap Cx, he only had to get his car smogged every three years and this was last year. I think you should look around man, I'm pretty sure it varies upon cities dog. Just check the cities around, anything worth having is worth fighting for.
