have you checked the IAC valve? it might be closed shut. I "had" that problem where hte IAC was closed shut, and it would idle extremely low and also on cold start ups it would have trouble starting, I would have to try 3-4 times to crank it and then step on the gas, and it would missfire to try and idle while im on the gas, but it would idle once warm, but really really low. Well anyways I messed up something with my IAC when i removed it, was going to replace the one on my ls motor with my gsr one, but the bolts dont match. Then i tried opening the LS iac to turn the solenoid back down, but stripped one of the bolts (I have a habit of stripping lots of bolts...its a curse). So i just put it back in, and now the idle jumps, and my car wont rev past 3K. ****** nice.

How can you tell if it's open or shut?

when you remove it, look in the hole and you will see like it. On my LS iac thats shut, you see like a white thing that is inside the hole. If it isn't shut, you will see a small like bar that the white thing slides on. Sorry I dont have any pics. But IAC's are money...

yes...some what. its just two 12mm bolts. the vavle is on the back of the IM or your throttle body i forget. but its sort of a tight fit between it and the firewall. Alsot heres two hoses that connect to it. remove it, and then clean the mesh screen with some carb cleaner or brake clean. then re install.. If you still have the problem, you might want to try the FITV. That should be under the throttle body.
